Pope Francis on Philippine corruption
“As many voices in your nation have pointed out, it is now, more than ever, necessary that political leaders be outstanding for honesty, integrity and commitment to the common good,” said by the beloved Pope during his visit in the Malacanang Palace.
The Pope of the social media generation, on his first day, told the Philippine government to accomplish its duties to stop the country’s corruption. Notable people, including Philippine President Benigno “PNoy” Aquino III, were gathered at the Malacanang Palace and were admonished by the Pope to “reject every form of corruption which diverts resources from the poor”. He also added, “it is now, more than ever, necessary that political leaders be outstanding for honesty, integrity and commitment to the common good”.
“Kayo and Boss ko”
Recalling the promise of PNoy when he campaigned to fight against corruption and poverty, a lot of Filipinos still think about the “tuwid na daan” thinking of how much the President has accomplished in his vow to his fellow citizens. Although, there have been recognition of the Philippines rising up little by little from its “corrupt” state, there are still and more unrighteous impunity going on.
Filipinos are pleased and blessed of Pope Francis’ view on the government. The country’s citizens have been fighting for years to improve the governance for their fellow Filipinos. To hear a loving rebuke from an esteemed religious leader lifted the souls of millions of Filipinos. Now, the question remains: Will the Philippine government be able to do the direction of Pope Francis?
